Director of Joint Institute takes up post
The University of Sheffield has appointed Professor Mark Geoghegan as Director of the Joint Institute of Nanjing Tech University and the University of Sheffield.
Professor Geoghegan, an academic in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, will work between the two institutions and provide the strategic lead on behalf of the University of Sheffield.
Professor Wyn Morgan, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Learning and Teaching, made the announcement saying, “I am delighted that Professor Geoghegan has taken up the post of Director and look forward to working alongside him as he drives forward the work of the Joint Institute.”
On taking up the post this month (January 2017), Professor Geoghegan said, “I am very happy to have the opportunity to work with my colleagues in Sheffield and Nanjing to oversee and develop the academic activities of this very exciting partnership.”
The Joint Institute of Nanjing Tech University and the University of Sheffield offers Chinese students an opportunity to study for a University of Sheffield degree either in China or with up to two years in Sheffield. It currently offers undergraduate courses in chemistry, financial mathematics and materials physics.
