The Royal Literary Fund has boosted the support it offers to students and researchers in the Faculty of Science.

Animal and Plant Sciences, Biomedical Science and Molecular Biology and Biotechnology currently have Writers In Residence Frances Byrnes and Kerry Young three days a week to help staff and students improve their writing skills.

This support will soon be increased to four days a week, with Kerry covering two days and a new RLF appointee covering the other two.

Staff and students can make an appointment with a Writer In Residence over email. Frances (f.byrnes@sheffield.ac.uk) is currently available on Tuesdays and Kerry (kerry.young@sheffield.ac.uk) is in on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Both are based in C202A Alfred Denny Building.

As a further show of support, the RLF has also offered three Faculty of Science academics places at a four-day intensive writing retreat this June, aimed at scientific researchers.
