Molecular biology graduate to share the secrets and science of brewing beer

case-study-mbbA science graduate is coming back to campus to teach ale drinkers all about the science of beer and modern brewing processes.

Claire Monk, who studied Molecular Biology in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, is taking part in ‘The Science Of Beer’, which takes place at the University Arms on Wednesday 19 November, 7pm.

Guests will be able to find out about eighteenth century ‘beer-doctors’ from Dr James Sumner, a guest speaker from Manchester University and taste a range of ales from Welbeck Abbey Brewery, where Claire is the head brewer.

The event is being organised by Science Brainwaves, an innovative science communication group based at the University of Sheffield.
